Meike Legler is a contemporary textile artist currently based in Vienna, Austria. She is best known for sewing together fabrics that she treated with paint, dye, and bleach and fabrics featuring diverse textures into colorful compositions stretched like canvas over wooden stretcher bars.
Her artistic practice is inspired by astrophysics, a spiritual perspective on the mysteries of the universe and the afterlife as well as by the possibilities that the materials she uses, offer.
Legler has exhibited at galleries and institutions in the Los Angeles area and internationally, including Ladies’ Room in Los Angeles, the United States of America; Annika Nuttal Gallery in Aarhus, Denmark; Claremont Graduate University in Claremont, the United States of America; Artmovement in Los Angeles, the United States of America; and Show Gallery in Hollywood, the United States of America.
